This professional development session is designed for ARC faculty, counselors, and staff interested in fostering a more inclusive and equitable environment for Muslim students. Attendees will gain a foundational understanding of Islam and cultural practices across diverse Muslim communities, along with insight into how Islamophobia and cultural misunderstandings affect student success.
The session will also address mental health considerations, cultural stigma, and strategies for providing appropriate academic and emotional support. By increasing cultural awareness, this event empowers ARC colleagues to better engage with and advocate for Muslim students.
Attending this session supports ARC’s mission of equity and inclusion by equipping educators with tools to create supportive learning spaces where all students can thrive. Attendance at this professional development activity is limited to LRCCD employees and invited participants.
