What does a lifetime pursuit of perfection look like? What sacrifices and rewards arise for the person, their loved ones, and the community? In David Gelb's 2012 movie, the subject of his documentary, Jiro Ono, continues to run his 3-star Michelin rated restaurant at the age of 85. Themes of ritual, discipline, tradition, and family are woven throughout this Japanese tale of a remarkable dedication to craft. Music of Bach, Mozart, and Philip Glass accompany the story.

The ARC Faculty Movie Club will meet to discuss the movie via Zoom.

Faculty members should view the film before the discussion. At the time of scheduling this event, the movie is widely available via the Sacramento Public Library system (DVD and streamed on Kanopy), Amazon Prime, Tubi, Plex, Apple TV, and is available via the ARC Library's Kanopy streaming service.
