Reception: Friday, January 23, 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Bank of America Gallery

Exhibition: Friday, January 23 through Sunday, March 22, 2026

Black Art: Beauty, Harmony, Identity, and Love brings together the work of nine contemporary artists whose practices celebrate the richness, complexity, and emotional depth of Black experience. Featuring Milton 510 Bowens, Celeste Budd, Daphne Burgess, Talver Germany, Elizabeth Hall, Michael Angelo Jones, Shonna McDaniles, Aliyah Sidque, and Gerry "GOS" Simpson, the exhibition spans figurative painting, abstraction, mixed media, and collage. Across diverse visual languages, the artists explore the body, memory, rhythm, and connection as sites of resilience and self-expression.

Collectively, these works affirm beauty as both presence and power, harmony as balance amid movement, identity as layered and evolving, and love as an enduring force. From intimate gestures and symbolic forms to bold color fields and dynamic compositions, the exhibition invites viewers to witness how contemporary Black artists reclaim narrative space—honoring ancestry, celebrating individuality, and envisioning futures grounded in creativity, care, and joy.
