Have you ever thought your department/program could use additional support for research, outreach, lab support, or projects — but didn't have the budget for it? Or have you hosted a PIE intern before and want to do it again?

Join Workforce & Economic Development and ARC Work Experience & Internship Program for a session on how ARC departments/programs can become on-campus employers through the Paid Industry Experience (PIE) Program. Because Los Rios departments/programs qualify for 100% wage reimbursement under PIE, your area can potentially bring on a paid student intern.

This session speaks to two groups: areas considering starting an internship for the first time, and areas that have previously hosted a PIE intern and are ready to bring on another.

For those new to PIE, we'll help you think through what kind of role might make sense for your area and walk through what it takes to become a PIE employer — the Employer Interest Form, required documents, and posting the internship(s) on Handshake.

For returning PIE employers, we'll cover what's changed, how to refresh or repost a role, how to identify PIE-eligible students whose coursework or career goals align with the position and what makes an internship "educationally beneficial".

We'll close with a timely update: while PIE funding is currently paused, an additional $150,000 is expected to become available in January 2027, pending final approval. This is a great time for departments/programs — new to PIE or already familiar with it — to plan ahead so you're ready to apply for funding Spring 2027.
