Community of Practice on Racial Consciousness

We appreciate your attendance at all four sessions because community building is a priority, and the content will be scaffolded.

This Community of Practice is intended for faculty who have already done significant learning about and implementation of equity practices and who want to take next steps in becoming more equitable practitioners. Our gatherings will include discussion of the book “Nice Racism” (2021) by Robin DiAngelo. The focus of this book and this community of practice is on developing racial consciousness among white faculty/staff. The group will interrogate the impact of Whiteness on ourselves, our colleagues, and our students with the goal of addressing racial equity gaps. This group is also a space to form or deepen relationships with one another in order to learn from and support colleagues committed to equity work. The group will meet online via Zoom. To facilitate discussion, the group will be limited to 12 participants. To build trust and protect confidentiality, these sessions will not be recorded.
