This training emphasizes a practical learning path involving history, context, perspectives, data, and authentic American Indian voices. The intent is to develop a cohort of practitioners with functional knowledge and build capacity for long-term allyship with tribal citizens at ARC. Learning outcomes include:
- Articulate a foundational knowledge of factors (historical and present-day) that influence the success of tribal citizens at ARC.
- Identify sources of information that authentically represent tribal realities.
- Reflect on how the participants’ social and historical identities influence their relationship with tribal citizens.
- Identify systemic barriers to success for citizens of tribal nations at ARC.
- Describe existing Native-based models and frameworks for academic success and best practices developed by AI/AN people.
- Create and implement a personal action plan for supporting Native students.
- Reflect on the process of self-development in this training.
Attendance at this professional development activity is limited to LRCCD employees and invited participants.
