ARC Theatre Celebrates Jane Austen's 250 Birthday with the Premiere of SENSE & SENSIBILITY.
Adapted from the Jane Austen novel by Michelle Martin
Directed by Tracy Martin
Fans of Jane Austen, romance, humor, passion, and beauty rejoice!  American River College is staging a new adaptation of SENSE & SENSIBILITY that promises to be closer to Austen's beloved novel than any published  before!  As the world celebrates Jane Austen's 250th birthday this year, ARC Theatre commissioned this fresh adaptation by Regency romance author and Austen aficionado, Michelle Martin.
Set in the Regency era (now known to many as the "age of Bridgerton"), this lively classic focuses on the Dashwood sisters: sensible, brilliant Elinor and sensitive, passionate Marianne.  Fighting the norms of the era, both women hope to marry for love over money.... but the odds are truly against them. Far more than just melodrama, SENSE & SENSIBLITY reminds you that "Jane Austen wasn't a stuffy outdated writer, but someone with a knack for creating engaging characters and sexual and romantic tension alongside witty dialogue and observations about the society she lived in." (Deborah Heath, St. Alabans Times).  Sisters Michelle Martin (playwright) and Tracy Martin (director) have worked hard to honor Austen and her popular story with this lively, exciting adaptation.

From Austen's wonderful collection of hilarious, lovable characters to the delectable costumes by award- winning Gail Russel, to the humor and heartbreak of Elinor and Marianne's journey, you won't want to miss the premiere of this sparkling production!

$2 parking at the corner of College Oak and Myrtle, adjacent to the theatre.
