State Professional Development Guidelines
Guideline A: Course instruction and evaluation.
Guideline B: Staff development, in-service training, and instructional improvement.
Guideline C: Program and course curriculum or learning resource development and evaluation. Guideline D: Student personnel services.
Guideline E: Learning resource services.
Guideline F: Related activities, such as student advising, guidance, orientation, matriculation services, and student, faculty, and staff diversity.
Guideline G: Departmental or division meetings, conferences, and workshops, and institutional research.
Guideline H: Other duties as assigned by the district.

Upon achievement of his or her intended educational goal (degree, certificate, or set of courses) at American River College, a student will be able to:
ISLO 1: Demonstrate personal and professional readiness for career and/or academic advancement.
ISLO 2: Demonstrate skills and behaviors which contribute to inclusive and respectful communication of diverse ideas and beliefs.
ISLO 3: Utilize a variety of methods to communicate effectively.
ISLO 4: Work cooperatively and effectively with others.
ISLO 5: Use various technologies to collect information and solve problems.
ISLO 6: Critically evaluate information to develop informed perspectives on a variety of issues, problems, and challenges.
ISLO 7: Contribute to society using personal knowledge, resources, and skills.
ISLO 8: For students earning degrees, demonstrate an understanding of the basic content and methodology for the major areas of knowledge: arts and humanities, mathematics, natural sciences, and social sciences.
